Roaring Through The 20's

The Roaring Twenties!  The Great War was over, women finally got the right to vote, and Flappers partied on prohibited booze.  What a time!  In 1928, the "Kansas City Star" began publishing quilt patterns as a regular feature that continued until 1961.  Most of the blocks presented in "Roaring Through the '20s:  Paper Pieced Quilts from the Flapper Era" by Carolyn Cullinan McCormick were first published in the "Kansas City Star" in 1928 and 1929.  Therefore, in this class, you will make historic blocks using wonderful modern fabrics.  The fabrics in the 1920s reflected the period following World War I through the age of the Flappers with shiny fabrics or shirting fabrics ranging in color from blacks and grays to pastels such as peaches and light blues.  You will have great fun choosing the fabrics for the twenty 10-inch blocks we will complete, using paper-piecing techniques to create the beautiful blocks, and making an arrangement of the blocks perfect for your purposes.
